In the centre of Prabione, one of the hamlets that make up the village of Tignale you will find Casa Mary, once an old house built of stone and now a completely refurbished building with 3 holiday apartments, each with its own private entrance and giving a choice of accommodation for 2, 3, 4 or even 5 persons. Staying here you will get the feel of village life and for a few days be like one of the locals! From the apartments it is just a few minutes walk to the public swimming pool (free entrance to guests staying in Casa Mary), the Flying Frogs Adventure Park and the Nature Museum and approximately 2kms to the main 'village' of Gardola with all its bars, shops and characteristic restaurants.
All 3 apartments have TV, free wifi, bathroom with shower/wc and hair dryer, heating, and fully equipped kitchen in the living area with 4 gas rings, microwave, fridge, all necessary cutlery etc. an Italian coffee making machine and a Melitta. The apartments do not have lake view. Car parking is available free of charge in several small car parks close to the apartments.
Apartment Bougainvillea: max 5 persons Situated on two floors. Ground floor has a double bedroom with balcony facing onto a courtyard, second small bedroom with bunk beds and balcony, a storage area and a good sized bathroom with shower. On the upper level is the living room with sofa bed - suitable for 1 person - fully equipped kitchen, attractive wood ceiling and an enormous picture window plus access to a balcony with a spectacular view onto Monte Baldo and the roofs of the old houses in the centre of Prabione making this apartment unique in its style.
Apartment Il Limone. max 3 adults + 1 child Entrance at street level into the apartment with living area with open fire, sofa bed - which becomes bunks, and fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, double bedroom and an internal terrace accessible from the bedroom furnished with table, 4 chairs and a fresh water fountain.
Apartment L'Ulivo: max 4 persons Direct access from the small street up a flight of stairs into the apartment and living area with its attractive high wood ceiling, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with shower. There is a double bedroom and stairs from the living room to a loft area with 2 single beds and a skylight window.

Tignale village, made up of several hamlets, is not lakeside but on a high plateau on the western side of Lake Garda and opposite Monte Baldo.
Although the accommodation at Casa Mary is self catering, it is still my belief that everyone coeliac or non, should be able to eat out while on holiday. To this end Tignale is a coeliac haven! The central 'village' is just 2kms away and offers plenty of bars, shops and characteristic restaurants all serving gluten free options; Al Torchio restaurant and pizzeria, where you can enjoy gluten free real Italian pizzas and beer, in the main square is Apollo restaurant, nearby is the Portichetto bar where you will find a good selection of gf ice creams and for a special night out La Miniera restaurant, able to cater for both coeliacs and those who are lactose intollerant.
For the more energetic throughout the summer there are guided walks through the hills and woods in the 'High Garda Park' or to one of the other villages that make up the community of Tignale, a chance to learn and enjoy Nordic Walking or hire a mountain bike and enjoy riding along the many trails. In the hamlet of Prabione is the Nature Museum, the public swimming pool (free entrance for Casa Mary guests) and the 'Flying Frogs' Adventure Park which has proved to be a real favourite with children and adults alike! In the evenings local dances, discos and events are often organised in the village square.
But don't think you are isolated from the lake just 7km away! For those who enjoy swimming in the lake, from early June to the end of September there is a shuttle bus that goes four times a day (more frequent still in July and August) to the Porto di Tignale beach area with snack bar and availability of sun umbrellas and loungers. Several excursions departing from Tignale are available making it easier to access the lake for anyone who wants to stay in the village but not too keen to use a hire car every day. A weekly bus trip from Tignale to Limone allowing time to take a boat to Malcesine and the cable car to the top of Monte Baldo, a half day bus/boat trip to Isola del Garda, coach excursions to Venice and Verona, and a full day lake tour by boat with transport to and from Limone from where the boat departs. You can also use the daily minibus, early enough to get you to the nearest lakeside village in time to take the public boat service from one lake side village to another and return to Tignale late afternoon on the service bus. Be sure to visit Limone, Malcesine, Riva, Garda and Sirmione, the most popular places, but save time to take the ferry to Torri del Benaco for the Monday market or Salò with its elegant shops and lake side walk.

How to arrive
Verona 85km; Milan/Bergamo 110kms.
From Verona airport turn left travelling round perimeter of airfield. Continue for several kms, At first roundabout bear right and next one straight over and join the motorway in direction MILANO. Exit at Desenzano, immediately left at roundabout towards the lake. Filter left into main road over flyover. At second roundabout bear left towards Salò and travel up lakeside to Salò. (Then as below**).
From Bergamo turn right out of airport/car hire depot, filter left into main road and then follow green m’way signs onto A4 direction Venice: exit at Brescia Est. Take road to Salò (Brescia & Trento).
**Pass Salò, going north towards Riva. After Gargnano and the two tunnels turn left up the hill to Tignale. Approx 6 kms pass hamlet of Oldesio, then Gardola staying on the main road round the bend (passing in front of Al Torchio pizzeria), bear next right and continue approximately 1 km bearing right again by the sign on the bank side PRABIONE and continue past bar Liliana and then turn left at the junction into the central square at Prabione.
