Lake Iseo - Sale Marasino
"Just returned from a wonderful holiday by Lake Iseo. The hotel was excellent - in a fantastic situation overlooking the lake; lovely room, beautiful swimming pool, comfy sofas etc. The staff were so helpful and friendly and after your phone call the gf food was excellent - making a fresh cake for breakfast etc. Thank you for organising our holiday - we loved Lake Iseo and the surrounding villages, also the island". Gill & Christopher June 2017
" We were both very. very pleased with Villa Kinzica, as well as the whole relaxed holiday. The hotel staff were all most courteous and helpful and struck the perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism. I was delighted with how my coeliac requirements were handled and found the dinner menus excellent throughout. We managed to start every day with breakfast on the splendid terrace which is really such a positive feature of the hotel. Our room was most comfortable and spacious and very well appointed, as was the whole place." Donal & Eileen June 2015
"Our stay far exceeded our expectations! Great service, food and ambience and perfect for coeliacs. Stefano, the chef has trained extensively in how to prepare delicious food safe for coeliacs and the level of knowledge of coeliac disease was astounding." Sue & Ian July 2012
"A brief note to express our thanks for a fabulous holiday; perfect arrangements and the hotel is ideal. They couldn't do enough on the gluten free. We were really impressed with the lake and general area." John & Caitriona July 2011.
"Just wanted to write and let you know how much we enjoyed our holiday. The hotel looked after us very well and were very kind and helpful. All in all, we had a lovely week with lots to do. Just wish it had been longer!" Ann & Paul September 2010
For those of you who enjoy a lake holiday but prefer somewhere small and relatively quiet, Lake Iseo is the destination for you. Much smaller than nearby Garda and Como, Lake Iseo is dominated by Monteisola, the largest inhabited island on any fresh water lake in Europe. Hotel Villa Kinzica, part of the hotel chain Charme & Relax which boasts 'hotels of special appeal' is in the village of Sale Marasino overlooking the lake and Monteisola. As soon as you enter the hotel you will feel at home. Two big comfortable sofas in the lounge, a separate breakfast room, a beautiful restaurant and even better a big terrace facing the lake for 'al fresco' dining in the summer. The rooms are all en suite with air conditioning or heating, several have balcony and all either a lake or mountain view. The hotel has a large garden - imagine sitting in the shade of one of the olive trees sipping an aperitif before dinner in mid summer - and an outdoor pool with plenty of sun loungers. A lot of emphasis is put on the quality of the food - there is a separate breakfast buffet area for coeliacs - and since the head chef himself is coeliac he knows the dangers of cross contamination.
The village of Sale Marasino is mid way up the east side of Lake Iseo and directly opposite Monteisola. An easy lake side walk from the hotel will take you into the centre of the village and also to the jetty from where the public boat service departs to other towns scattered round the lake. There is plenty to do and see in the area. Apart from taking the boat over to Monteisola and walking round the island, enjoy a round the lake tour, or a walk which can take you as far as Iseo town itself along the Antica Valeriana with its fantastic views or a visit to the natural stone pyramids in the hillside village of Zone. You can happily spend a day in the town of Iseo to the south of the lake, wandering through the narrow streets or sitting and admiring the view from one of many lake side bars or restaurants. In the Franciacorta area not only will you find vineyards with the possibility of sampling some of the famous Franciacorta sparkling wines but also castles, towers and monasteries. The local train from Brescia will take you to Capo di Ponte at the head of the Val Camonica where, in the natural park you will find some wonderful pre historic cave art. For the more energetic enjoy some windsurf and sailing or even golf at 10kms but if shopping tempts you more the towns of Brescia and Bergamo are both nearby.
