'We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our holiday and thank you for recommending. It was a delightful place with such lovely staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was all we had hoped for and the food was great. It was relaxing for me not having to worry about what I was eating. The countryside is magical and we enjoyed walking and exploring with just the sound of birdsong to accompany us. We will certaily go back again.' Mia & Ian June 2017
'We have just enjoyed the most amazing holiday at Hotel Gallo. It has been a total success and the best holiday we have experienced certainly since Amanda was diagnosed as being coeliac. We found the rooms comfortable, clean with stunning views of the lake. All the staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating, particularly when it came to offering advice on menu options. We also took your advice and embraced the whole experience by eating lunch out in Verona, Torri del Benaco and Salò and on every occasion we found delicious gf and df options. So a massive 'Thank You' for reassuring us that the hotel understood and could provide delicious and safe food and for offering us lots of advice for making the most of our holiday'. Pete, Amanda & Hannah August 2016
'Just to say a big thank you for a great holiday - we are so impressed - can't fault it in any way. The GF provision was exceptional'. Judy & Graham July 2016.
"4 day walking holiday in Tignale. 4 of us have stayed at the Gallo previously, however our other four friends had not
They were truly amazed at the quality of the hotel, its location, the level of service and the quality of the food. The staff as always, were attentive and polite and the lake facing rooms with balcony were truly stunning By the end of the break none of us wanted to leave - we would have gladly stayed another 3-4 days. In summary I cannot praise the owners and staff enough. Each time we return it is just like visiting family Fantastic". John, Michele, Simon, Jacqui and friends June 2016.
"Hotel Gallo nothing less than superb! Everyone staying at the hotel is treated with the same care and food and wine top notch. Being a 'big' person I had a little problem with the size of the shower but even that got sorted!" Mike & Dee, Alan & Jan, James & Melissa August 2014
"Thank you all once again for another lovely holiday - the hospitality, excellent food and friendliness is outstanding. Like home from home!" Phil & Margaret July 2014
"We certainly enjoyed our stay in Hotel Gallo. It was marvellous to more or less eat the same diet as my husband yet still know I wouldn't get ill. On top of that everyone in the hotel made us feel welcome and it was like being part of a family. We found the facilities excellent and enjoyed being so close to the pool. Janet & Georges June 2013
" The hotel is a haven for coeliacs - the gluten free provision is extensive with a brilliant choice for breakfast which even included gf croissants and pains au chocolat. Sitting on the terrace for breakfast and dinner we had breathtaking views of Lake Garda below us and the mountains across the lake." Sue & Ian July 2012
"Thank you for introducing me to the wonderful Hotel Gallo: I genuinely enjoyed my week and have every intention of returning next year: The food was very, very good and the chefs provided the best gluten-free gourmet dining ever!" Katharine September 2010
"Just to say how much we enjoyed staying at Hotel Gallo. What a lot of effort they put in and it was wonderful to be able to enjoy freshly prepared pasta dishes." Linda & Steve June 2009
"Thank you so much for organising such a lovely holiday for us. Everything was just wonderful, particulary the hotel and the pasta!" John & Lindsay July 2007
This small hotel, right in the main village of Tignale, run by Fulvia and Renato has become a real favourite, well known for its good food and friendly atmosphere. (There has to be a reason why Trip Advisor has classed the hotel as excellent!) All the rooms are en suite many with balcony and lake facing. There is an on site swimming pool, small health club with jacuzzi, sun bed, turkish bath and the possibility of booking massage and various beauty treatments plus a panoramic terrace from where there are views onto the lake below and Monte Baldo opposite. What could be better than 'al fresco' dining in the summer sitting on the terrace admiring the view!
Just a few metres from the hotel are the S. Pietro apartments, 4 x 2 bedroom flats for maximum 6 persons all tastefully furnished with living/kitchen area, bathroom, balcony and lake view and possibility of air conditioning. This now brings the number of available apartments within 60 metres of the hotel to 6 that can be booked either self catering or half board with meals in Hotel Gallo. Use of hotel facilities included in the price. For more apartments see La Dolce Vita Relais.
Coeliac guests are given a very warm welcome and will find a separate breakfast buffet and a choice of menu for the evening meal. For several years now to make sure there is no chance of cross contamination all flour, breadcrumbs etc used in the kitchen are gluten free!
If you enjoy wonderful views of lakes and mountains then you will enjoy Hotel Gallo in Tignale, a village at 500 mts. above the lakeside. During the day you can sit by the pool, enjoy wandering round the narrow streets of the old part of the village with its bars, shops and characteristic restaurants or just sit in one of the cafés in the main pedestrian area watching the world go by. For the more energetic throughout the summer there are guided walks through the hills and woods in the 'High Garda Park' or to one of the other villages that make up the community of Tignale, a chance to learn and enjoy Nordic Walking or hire a mountain bike and enjoy riding along the many trails. In the hamlet of Prabione is the 'Flying Frogs' Adventure Park which has proved to be a real favourite with children and adults alike! In the evenings local dances, discos and events are often organised in the village square.
But don't think you are isolated from the lake just 7km away! For those who enjoy swimming in the lake, from early June to the end of September there is a shuttle bus that goes four times a day (more frequent still in July and August) to the Porto di Tignale beach area with snack bar and availability of sun umbrellas and loungers. There are also several excursions departing from Tignale making it easier to access the lake for anyone who wants to stay in the village but doesn't want to hire a car. A weekly bus trip from Tignale to Limone allowing time to take a boat to Malcesine and the cable car to the top of Monte Baldo, a half day bus/boat trip to Isola del Garda, coach excursions to Venice and Verona, and a full day lake tour by boat with transport to and from Limone from where the boat departs. You can also use the daily minibus, early enough to get you to the nearest lakeside village in time to take the public boat service from one lake side village to another and return to Tignale late afternoon on the service bus. Be sure to visit Limone, Malcesine, Riva, Garda and Sirmione, the most popular places, but save time to take the ferry to Torri del Benaco for the Monday market or Salò with its elegant shops and lake side walk.
Tignale is fast becoming a coeliac haven! Just opposite the hotel you will find Al Torchio restaurant and pizzeria, serving gluten free real Italian pizzas - great for lunchtimes on days you stay in the village! In the main square is Apollo restaurant, nearby is the Portichetto bar where you will find a good selection of gf ice creams and for a special night out La Miniera restaurant is able to cater for both coeliacs and those who are lactose intollerant.
